Before the Remodel
Beneath the staircase was an unfinished, exposed framing cavity — a narrow, angular void defined by raw lumber, visible wiring, and a bare concrete floor. It had no insulation, no finishing materials, and no clear function.
The geometry of the stairwell created interesting potential, but the space itself felt utilitarian and forgotten. It was essentially storage overflow — an architectural opportunity that had never been realized.
While structurally sound, it lacked intention, design, and integration with the rest of the home.
After the Remodel
Today, that same under-stair space has become a striking, glass-enclosed wine showcase.
A custom black-framed glass enclosure follows the exact angle of the staircase, turning the once-hidden void into a dramatic architectural feature. The bold frame provides contrast against the surrounding walls while visually anchoring the structure beneath the stairs.
Inside, the space is fully finished with light stone walls and precision wine racking designed to maximize capacity without sacrificing presentation. Bottles are displayed in both horizontal and angled configurations, transforming storage into visual art.
Integrated lighting highlights the collection while creating depth and warmth. A dedicated cooling system maintains ideal conditions for long-term preservation, ensuring both form and function.
The once-dark cavity is now illuminated, climate-controlled, and beautifully organized — visible from the hallway and staircase as a refined focal point.
